About radar coverage
Radar imagery is composited from national weather radar networks. Coverage is good across North America, most of Europe, Japan, Korea, Australia and parts of India, Brazil and southern Africa. Much of Africa, central Asia, the Middle East and the open oceans have no public radar network at all.
Where there is no radar, this page says so rather than showing an empty map: a blank radar layer could easily be misread as “no precipitation”. For those regions, use the precipitation forecast layer on the interactive map, which is model output with global coverage.
